Did you know that lightning produces about 1 million joules of energy? Now that you know that or if you already do are you wondering why we don't use it as a source of energy? Well it's because we can't harvest it….sort of. The first man to come close to this discovery was Steve Le Roy, he used Tesla coils to recreate lightning and used that to power a light bulb for over 20 minutes! However, he was not able to take the discovery to the next level due to the lack of time and funding. That was long ago….
In the Leadership in Technology class we created, we all present a personal exploration project which, consists of us researching a topic or problem and solving it.
Now I face the challenge of recreating what Steve Leroy did. Currently I am in the research part of it and trust me there is a lot to research. A ton!! Once I am done with that I will move on to replicating it and hopefully finishing what he started.
