Battle of the BlueGrass! From 11/3/17 to 11/5/17 our robotics team went to an off season event in Corbin, Kentucky. Overall it was a great event, personally I think our team performed exceptionally well. From the amount of hype while driving there to the unique dances of the drive team. We started the trip Friday morning, leaving Chicago at around 9:00am. Our team consisted of 2 vans and a total of 26 people attending the competition. The drive was around 8 hours of cheering and loud music. When we got to the school we unloaded the van and squeezed in a few practice matches. Me being in charge of drive team, could feel the anxiety and hype of the team. Along with completing practice matches I also gave a quick tutorial to new recruits on the controls of the robot. After the practice matches we headed to a restaurant called Bojangles, which I really enjoyed. Once everyone was fed and tired we headed to the hotel and unpacked, the hotel reminded me of a cozy cabin with a fireplace in the common area. When we got to the hotel it was around 10:00pm and our team had planned to work on school work until curfew at 12:00pm.
The next morning we had to be up by 7:00am so we can make it in time for the event which started at 8:30am. It was a slow start but our team had to work fast. The qualifications matches were great they all were led by recruits. By the end of the qualification matches we ranked 8th place, but due to alliance selection we were able to become an alliance captain. Unfortunately we did not win the competition but we still left smiling because we knew we did amazing as a team.
