This past Friday our school hosted an International Dinner after school. I was a volunteer for this event as a member of Hawks On The Horizon. I was required to dress up nice because I was the door man, I was in charge of welcoming the guests and collecting tickets. There was great food and even better performances. Personally I was looking forward to see the Mexican Folkloric team dance I would always hear them practicing after school but never really got to seem them dance. If I were to rate the event out of 10 I would give it a solid 8, the good food matched the great vibe you got from entering the gym.
When entering the gym you saw an array of tables and chairs each matched with a person dressed perfectly. Also when entering you can smell the wide variety of foods that were there. However, when the food was open to be served a long line formed around the gym. When I finally got my plate, I filled it with chicken, mashed potatoes, a biscuit, and corn. I was 100% not disappointed by anything on my plate, I even went for seconds and got dessert, which was cake and cookies.
The performances started at around 5:30, beginning with the Turkish Dance team. The music had a variety of different sounds and colors. The next performance was a boy who sang a song from the movie “Coco”. I have never seen the movie so I was unable to compare correctly, nonetheless I still enjoyed the performance. Next, was a couple dancing to another song. The song was very interesting. Within it was a story about a man trying to gain the attention of the lady he was dancing with. Last but not least was the Mexican Folkloric dance team, the music started and they danced across the gym. It was amazing, the music was enjoyable and I got to see my friends perform what they had been practicing. This was my first time going to the International Dinner and I had a great time. I would go again next year and recommend others to do so as well.
