This summer, 5125 Hawks On The Horizon will be incredibly busy focusing on improving the team, our community and to make a difference. One way that Hawks On The Horizon plans to make an impact in our community is by introducing different schools around the neighborhoods of Chicago to FIRST Robotics and the STEM field. We plan to meet with these schools in order to implement the programs into their after school activities. We have started to lay out a form in which we would list all the points of what we need to talk about when explaining FIRST Robotics and FIRST Tech Challenge. This would be an important program to have for the passionate teenagers who are interested in the STEM field, but do not have the opportunity.
By implementing FIRST Robotics in Chicago Public Schools and schools around our area, we allow them to build their futures as leaders of the next generation. This, then, will allow our community to grow as a whole, by teaching the young and then the help passes on. Healy Elementary School, the school that I previously went to, did not have much opportunities for me to practice building my future career and I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I was older. When I entered Horizon Science Academy the opportunities were given to me and I wish to pass it down to the current students at Healy Elementary School and help start build their futures.
