Wednesday, Jan 8th Today we continued to work in our separate groups. For spinning the control panel the group worked on using wheel for spinning the control panel. They used drills to simulate motors and attach wheels to the end. They thought about using two wheels a couple inches apart so they way we can have two points of contact in case we miss one when we go and attempt to line up to the control panel. They also talked about the way our drive base moves so that we can design around tank drive.
For the intake and outtake groups we continued working on all our ideas. One group worked on creating a low port for the other two groups to use as a demo. Group 2 worked on a new design where the power cells wound funnel into a tube and then there would be an opening on the side where the power cells would eventually go down to be shot out. Group 3 worked on creating a cardboard model of a square tube where the power cells would travel. They first created a square tube that was 6 inches by 6 inches. The idea was the tube would compress the side. They soon realized that the ball was too compressed and would not move at all. So they changed the cardboard model to an 8 inch by 7 inch tube. The power cell fit a bitter smoother. They worked on a way to get the power cell in.They first started by testing with drills and wheel on the side.They saw that it worked however the power cell was not taken in right away it took a second or two. So they tested a wheel intake on the top and saw the power cells would go in much faster.
